Welcome to IanGenuity
Tutorial & creative services in and around Abingdon

IanGenuity is run by Ian Miles, who has been offering his particular blend of experience, flexibility, focus & friendliness in tuition for nearly 10 years.
Ian Miles is an honours Modern Language graduate of New College, Oxford (1981) with a Certificate in Education and full ECRB clearance. After several successful years’ teaching in independent schools and some generalist supply work he turned freelance in 2002.
He has since worked across more than a dozen subjects to GCSE and beyond with students as varied as Young Offenders, Travellers and children in care, trainee international sportsmen and performance artists; face-to-face, and online and by correspondence for a variety of national and international agencies.

Ian enjoys the challenge of generalist support work, to which he brings virtually 30 years’ cross-curricular experience along with broad general knowledge, empathy with the pressures on young examinees ~ and a ready sense of humour to help matters along.
He has authored course materials for Oxford Open Learning (IGCSE French, 2009) and CGP (Higher Tier GCSE English Creative Writing, 2010); he is also a published poet and regular compiler of specialist crossword puzzles.
An active church and community musician, available on keyboard and/or vocals for a variety of occasions, he lives in Abingdon with his wife and two cats.
IanGenuity’s usual zone of operation is bounded by the towns of Wantage, Witney, Woodstock, Wheatley and Wallingford ~ but we are always willing, in principle and on merit, to consider any practicable commissions further afield in interesting and deserving cases.
